Enrollment And Attendance

Completed enrollment record forms are required before attending (see Registration section). The school’s director will assist you in completing enrollment documents for your child. Parents are required to update information on file whenever changes occur. Parents or authorized individuals must escort children to and from the school at all times. Parents must notify the school of any changes in personal or emergency information. Please remember that this is in the best interest of your child.

Registration

Your child must be a minimum of 2 ½ years old and toilet trained to be eligible for registration and enrollment in the school. To register your child:

  1. Complete an application.

  2. Attach or enclose a $150.00 non-refundable registration fee with application.

  3. Attach or enclose a copy of the following forms:

    • Health form (up to date immunization records)*

    • Emergency care and release form

    • Field trip permission form

Once registered and enrolled in the school, all children are on a month-long probation period to ensure that they comply with all necessary registration policies.

*Evidence of age appropriate immunizations, or a signed affidavit against such immunizations, is required on the child’s first day of attendance. Evidence of immunizations or exemption must be on the form required by the Georgia Department of Human Resources.

    Hours And Days Of Operation

The school follows the Henry County Schools schedule. We do not offer a summer program. The school is open Monday through Friday from 8:45 am to 2:30 PM. A late fee of $10.00 will be assessed for every 10 minutes your child remains in the school past their regularly scheduled pick up time of 11:00, 12:00 or 2:30, whichever applies.

    Personal Belongings

An individual space is provided for your child’s personal belonging. Your child should have a complete change of clothing at all items. Please label all clothing with your child’s name. Other than a book or video to share with other students, no other personal belongings should be brought to the Meadowlands Montessori school. We cannot be responsible for misplaced items.

    Snacks

Each family will be assigned at least one week in which to provide snacks, fruits and vegetables only. The snacks are then incorporated into the practical life area as a daily exercise.

    Discipline

An atmosphere of cooperation is encouraged throughout the school. Positive motivation and attention redirection are our most effective methods of discipline. On occasion, it also involves quiet counseling, out of hearing distance from other children, followed by a brief "time out".

    Non-Discrimination Policy

The Meadowlands Montessori school offers child education services to all persons, regardless of race, sex, ethnic group or national origin.

    Parental Communication

As a parent who has entrusted his/her child to the staff of the school, you are welcome to visit the school at any time. Please feel free to visit our Director, Teachers and Caregivers to discuss any concerns or questions you may have. We want you to feel confident that your child is receiving the best in preschool experience.

    Illness

Childhood illnesses are a part of growing up. We work diligently to prevent the spread of germs in our facility. Our obligation to all parents is to take every precaution against the spread of communicable illnesses. We ask that, as parents, you are considerate of the other children at the Meadowlands Montessori School.

If your child has any of the following or is feeling too ill to participate in activities, we ask that you care for your child at home until the illness has passed.

      • A temperature over 100 degrees

      • Diarrhea

      • Vomiting

      • Constant cough or wheezing

      • Recurring abdominal pain

      • Sore throat

If your child becomes ill while in our care, we will contact you or your alternate immediately. Please make arrangements to have your child picked up promptly. Please notify the school if your child develops a communicable disease. The Meadowlands Montessori School will promptly notify parents and the proper authorities in the event of communicable disease.

    First Aid – Medical Treatment

The safety of your child is our foremost concern. Our facility receives frequent inspections to prevent potential safety hazards. Our staff is trained in CPR and First Aid.

    Medication

We will gladly assist you by administering approved medication for your child as you direct. The medicine container must be labeled with your child’s name, instructions regarding refrigeration, times and dosage to be administered. You will be required to complete a Medicine Authorization Form each day that the medicine is to be dispensed to your child by our staff. The form required the parent to provide:

      • Name of child

      • Name of medicine

      • Prescription number, if applicable

      • Time(s) to administer

      • Method to administer

      • Dosage

      • Parent’s signature.

Upon administering medication, the person who dispenses the medicine will sign the time the medicine was given and will not any adverse reaction. Parents will be notified should any adverse reaction occur. Non-prescription medicine will be administered for a maximum of 3 consecutive days.

    Security

For your child’s safety, we ask that you provide us with the names of individuals authorized to pick your child up from school. If there is a specific need for someone else to pick your child up on any given day, it is imperative that you contact us with the name of the authorized individual.

    Severe Weather, Fire and Emergency

Our facility is equipped with an approved fire alarm system and strategically located fire extinguishers. Evacuation exercises are routinely conducted. Children soon become accustomed to this mandatory safety precaution. Information regarding procedures during severe weather, fire and other emergencies is posed in the school. Parents will be notified by phone as to the protection of their children in case of an emergency that would force us to leave the school.

We will follow the schedule for Henry County Schools
during severe weather. Please tune to radio station

WGST 640 AM or go to the Henry County Schools

Emergency Information page for details regarding closings.

    Committees

All committees are designed to assist the school in accomplishing certain functions that it would not be able to accomplish without the help of parents. We try to structure these committees so that no one is terribly over committed and is able to handle their particular function. We always ask that each family sign up for two committees. If at anytime these duties become a burden, please contact us so we can try to alleviate the situation.
